Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 7, 2026. This policy explains what studentloanreset.com ("Student Loan Reset," "we," "us") collects, how it's used, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect very little, we sell nothing, and the calculator never transmits your financial inputs anywhere.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide directly. Two forms exist on this site. The Reset Briefing signup collects the email address you submit, used solely to send you the briefing. The contact form collects the name, email address, and message you submit, used solely to respond to your inquiry. Both forms are processed by Web3Forms, a form-handling service that transmits submissions to our inbox; Web3Forms' handling of submission data is governed by its own privacy policy.
Calculator inputs: none. The RAP Payment Calculator runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The income, family, balance, and rate figures you enter are computed locally on your device and are never transmitted to us, stored by us, or shared with anyone. Closing the page discards them.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure (Vercel) and any analytics we enable may automatically log standard technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps. We use this data in aggregate to understand which pages help readers and to keep the site secure and functioning. We do not use it to build individual profiles.
2. Cookies and similar technologies
Our own site content sets no tracking cookies. However, two categories of third parties may set cookies when you use the site:
Analytics providers, if enabled, may use cookies or similar identifiers to measure aggregate traffic patterns.
Advertising partners. If display advertising appears on this site, third-party ad networks — which may include Google AdSense — may use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your browsing history. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and opt out of many third-party advertising cookies at www.aboutads.info or www.youronlinechoices.com. Advertising partners never receive your form submissions from us.
You can also configure your browser to refuse cookies entirely; the site's content and calculator function without them.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to: deliver the email briefing you requested; respond to contact-form inquiries; operate, secure, and improve the site; understand aggregate readership; and comply with legal obligations. That is the complete list. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information — not to advertisers, not to lenders, not to anyone — and we do not use your information for automated decision-making about you.
4. When information is shared
Personal information is shared only with: service providers who process it on our behalf (Web3Forms for form delivery; Vercel for hosting; an email service for the briefing list), each bound to use it only for the service they provide; legal authorities if required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights and safety; and a successor entity in the event the site is sold or transferred, in which case this policy continues to govern the transferred data. No other sharing occurs.
5. Data retention
Briefing email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe — every briefing includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list. Contact-form submissions are retained only as long as needed to handle the inquiry and are then deleted in the ordinary course. Aggregate analytics data carries no personal identifiers.
6. Your rights and choices
Everyone: you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information you've provided us at any time via the contact form or contact@studentloanreset.com; we will confirm completion within a reasonable time. You may unsubscribe from the briefing with one click in any email.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect (disclosed fully in Section 1), to request deletion, and to non-discrimination for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA, so no opt-out of sale is needed.
EEA/UK residents (GDPR): our legal bases are consent (forms you choose to submit) and legitimate interest (site operation and security). You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, exercisable via the contact methods above, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
7. Data security
The site is served exclusively over HTTPS. Form submissions travel encrypted in transit. We minimize what we collect precisely because the best protection for data is not holding it — the calculator's local-only design is the clearest example.
8. Children's privacy
This site addresses adult financial topics and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Third-party links
We link extensively to external sites — StudentAid.gov, ED.gov, Congress.gov, servicer sites, and occasionally affiliate partners. Their privacy practices are their own; this policy covers only studentloanreset.com. We encourage reading the privacy policy of any site you visit, especially before submitting personal or financial information.
10. Changes to this policy
Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
11. Contact
Privacy questions or requests: the contact form or contact@studentloanreset.com.
